How to Optimize a Blog Post

Optimizing your blog post for SEO may be the most important thing you do for your website.

Our blog editor gives you the option to make changes or assign a value to the Page Title, URL Stub as well as Meta Description for any given page.

In order to optimize your blog post for SEO, follow the steps outlined below:

1) Log in to the PatientSites Web Editor at client.patientsites.com

2) Go to the Content menu and click on Blog

2) You can now create a new blog post or edit an existing one.

3) On the blog editor page, scroll down to reveal SEO options such as Title and Meta Description

4) Use the <title> field to assign your blog post a unique and catchy SEO title (make sure to use a catchy title to generate interest and engagement). It is often recommended that you spend an equal amount of time creating content as you do deciding your blog post title.

5) The <meta name="description"> field allows you to enter a description for the page as you'd like it to appear in search results (see below for example).

Optimizing these paragraphs of content can cause significant changes in how searchers react to your content. Make sure to include content that responds to the query the searcher is looking for in the first place. There is a bit of guessing game here, but if you're able to step-in to the mindset of your potential leads and patients, then you can target the terms they use to search for you.

Don't forget about search engines - optimized meta descriptions and titles send positive signals to search engines which results in better rankings if you're targeting the correct terms and phrases.

6) The URL Stub allows you to assign a value to follow the address of your website. This value defines the location of your page on the website. This value can be significant for SEO, so make sure to assign a value containing page title and location for best local SEO results.

Example: http://www.patientsites.com/Patient-Education/

In the example above, /Patient-Education/ happens to be the stub for the URL.
