Appeal Business Profile Content & Profile Restrictions

1. Review Google’s Policies

Before submitting an appeal, make sure your profile adheres to Google’s guidelines. Common issues include:

  • Inaccurate business information
  • Misleading or inappropriate content
  • Violation of Google’s terms and policies

2. Access the Appeal Form

  • You can access the appeal form here

3. Complete the Appeal Form

  1. Make sure you're logged in to the Google account that you used to create the listing originally
  2. Select the Business Profile that you want to reinstate.
  3. The Google Business Profile appeals tool shows:
    • The date profile was suspended/restricted
    • The reason for the moderation action
    • A link to the violated policy
  4. If your profile is eligible for an appeal, you'll see an option to click Submit in the lower right corner of the page.

NOTE: you have 60 minutes from clicking ‘Submit’ to upload documents proving your business is the real deal. Failing to do so puts your Google Business Profile at risk. See step 6 (b) to gather your evidence before you click "Submit".
  5. You'll be asked if you want to upload evidence or if you want to submit without any evidence. It's highly recommended that you upload evidence with your appeal to create a strong case.
  6. Once you select the option to upload evidence, you'll be prompted to complete the Appeals form:
    1. Confirm your business information
    2. Attach evidence: Include any documents or evidence that support your appeal. This might include a copy of your official business registration, business lease, license, utility bills, business tax documents - or other official business documents that proves that you're the owner of the business and have the right to operate at that address. You'll want to confirm that any submitted documents have the same business name and address as what you've included in your Google Business Profile. You may also want to consider other forms of proof based on the reason of suspension.
    3. Explain what you've done to address the reason for suspension or why you think the suspension is not valid. You'll have a limit of 1000 characters here so it's best to focus on the facts.
    4. Make sure you complete the steps above within 60 minutes of submitting the appeal.

4. Complete the Appeal

  1. Review Your Information: Double-check that all details are accurate and complete.
  2. Submit the Form: Click the submit button and wait for confirmation that your appeal has been received.

5. Monitor the Status

  1. Open the Google Business Profile appeals tool.
  2. Make sure you’re still signed in to the Google Account related to your Business Profile.
  3. Select the Business Profile for the appeal that you submitted.
  4. On the right, you’ll find the status of the appeal:
    • Submitted
    • Approved
    • Not Approved
    • Can't be appealed
    • Eligible for appeal

6. Request an additional review to a denied request

Only if your reinstatement request is denied, we may be able to do an additional review to prove your eligibility. You can submit an additional review to a denied request. You can provide additional evidence that wasn’t added with your original appeal. View the types of evidence that can strengthen your appeal process.

7. Follow Up

If you haven’t received a response within a reasonable timeframe, consider following up through the Help Center or reaching out via Google My Business support channels.

Some tips to help you avoid getting suspensions in the future

  • Keyword stuffing in the business name (and being reported for it)
  • Repeated edits to a listing in a short period of time (it’s best to wait 60 seconds between edits)
  • Changing from a Storefront to a Service Area Business
  • Address or hours not matching with those on your website
  • Pin marker on Google Maps being in a suspicious location
  • Inconsistent signage (likely if you created your profile before your FYZICAL signage has been installed)
  • Using a UPS Store, Regus, DaVinci or other virtual offices as the business location (instead of your actual clinic location)
  • Having multiple listings in an area that has service areas overlapping
  • Having the same business contact number across multiple profiles
  • Having a violation in other Google Products (like Adwords)
